OUR SUN

By. DAVIN SUTHERLAND

The sun is a star just like all stars in the sky. It's a ball of burning gas. 76% of it's mass is hydrogen, and almost all of the rest is helium. The suns outermost layeris called the corona. The corona is only visible during an eclipse. The temperatureof the corona is millions of degrees. The chromosphere is located between the corona and the photosphere.

The sun's power house is buried in a central core. In the central core it is about15 degrees. The gas is 20 times denser than iron. Hydrogen nucleii crush together and become helium. Helium energy goes out from the core. Below the photosphere the energy rises then falls while it cools. When this happens an energy blast known as spicules shoot up like flames. The most intense blast of energy on the sun is a solar flare. Those solar flares send particles into space, which sometimes ends up coming to earth.

Magnetic field on the sun is five times that of the earth. Sun spots appear close to the suns equator. After a while th spots decline then rise again. At this time the sun is gradually pulling on the planets. Eventually, the sun will pull all of the planets into it. Gradually, with time the sun will grow until it explodes.
