FACTS YOU WON'T LEARN IN TEXTBOOKS ABOUT THE WAR OF YANKEE AGGRESSION

  1. Massachusetts was the first state to legalize and have slavery.
  2. The slave trade was done under the stars and strips, not the stars and bars.
  3. Nine out of ten who fought for the south were NOT from families that owned slaves.
  4. 1 in 65 died from battle wounds, but 1 in 10 were killed by desease in the War Between the States!
  5. The Stars and Bars flag of the confederacy was NOT a hate flag and never has been. The first confederate flag looked too much like the Union flag in battle. Many people in the south were from Scottish and Scotch-Irish ancestry and were Christian. They decided on the Saint Andrews Cross in the corner of a white flag. The Saint Andrews cross would have stars in the blue cross with a red field. Unfortunately, when that flag hung limp in battle, it looked like a surrender flag. They then added a red trim on the outer edge (3rd national flag) and finally just the stars and bars. The bonnie blue flag of unity was also utilized. It had a blue field with a single large white star. Only in recent times have a certain groups on both sides decided to take a symbol rich in heritage and make it into something that it was never meant to be.
  6. There were many movements towards secession in New England before the southern states seceded. The Constitution would not have been ratified without that right.
  7. Georgia was the last state to re-enter the union. They tried to enter earlier, actually, but were kicked out until certain conditions were met. More on that later.
